Roses come in many colors with each color carrying it's own specific meaning. When giving roses as gifts, it would be wise to understand the meaning so that the correct message is sent.
Red Roses are a symbol of romance and love for most of us, but historically, they can also communicate courage, respect and honor.
Pink Roses, depending if they're pale, medium or dark/deep pink can convey different types of messages. A pale pink rose communicates gentleness; medium pink roses typically express happiness; dark or deep pink convey appreciation and gratitude. In general, pink roses express grace and a lighter version of love.
Yellow Roses are an expression of joy or freedom and are often used for communicating congratulations to graduates, new mothers, or friends for specific accomplishments. They can be used to express platonic love.
White Roses symbolize purity, truth and innocence. For that reason, you often see them used in weddings. They also convey reverence, humility, secrecy and righteousness.
Orange Roses typically convey enthusiasm, passion and desire and can be used to create a heightened sense of wonder or curiosity for the one who receives them.
Purple Roses indicate that the giver is smitten with the recipient, even to the point of conveying "love at first site". It can also be used to express a parents love for their child.
Burgundy Roses are a way to communicate that someone is very beautiful.
Peach Roses communicate appreciation, gratitude and are often used to express sympathy.
By combining roses of different colors, you can also convey specific messages: Red roses combined with white roses indicate purity, love and harmony; while yellow roses combined with red roses express energy, brightness, celebration and great joy.
And lastly, a crown of beautiful roses, typically either made with white roses, red roses, or a combination of the two, and worn by young women or girls, represent innocence and virtue.
